arumbae.com – Ambon, the election of the Maluku Protestant Church Synod (GPM) MPH for the 2025–2030 period was officially held after the election of the Chairperson, First Deputy Chairperson, and Second Deputy Chairperson was completed at the Maranatha Church in Ambon on Saturday (October 25, 2025).
According to data collected on-site, 279 delegates from 34 classes in Maluku and North Maluku cast their votes. This number includes members of the Synod MPH and the MPH Advisory Council, as verified by the election committee.
The initial election phase resulted in three prospective candidates meeting the 42-vote threshold. They were Rev. D. Watimanella with 86 votes, Rev. H.R. Tupan with 82 votes, and Rev. Max Takaria with 71 votes. There were no invalid votes in this round.
The three then advanced to the final round to compete for the position of General Secretary of the MPH GPM Synod for the 2025–2030 period.
This media outlet’s observations at the location revealed a tight and dynamic election. The final results showed Rev. H.R. Tupan winning with 121 votes, followed by Rev. D. Watimanella with 99 votes, and Rev. Max Takaria with 58 votes. There was one invalid vote in the election.
With these results, Rev. H.R. Tupan was officially elected as General Secretary of the MPH GPM Synod for the 2025–2030 period, replacing the previous leadership.
This election marks a new chapter in the complete formation of the MPH GPM Synod leadership, which will lead the church’s ministry for the next five years, after all key positions—Chairman, First Deputy Chairperson, Second Deputy Chairperson, and General Secretary—have now been filled through a democratic and transparent election process.
